On June 28, Awaken Seeds, a functional hair care brand specializing in scalp microbiome under Proya Cosmetics, was invited to attend the 30th Annual Meeting of Chinese Society of Dermatology (2025CSD), and officially launched Proya Cosmetics’ first scalp microbiome white paper——Research Report on Scalp Health and Scalp Microbiome in Chinese Population, at the Awaken Seeds satellite meeting.
This report is the first scalp microbiome research and scientific care guideline based on a survey of 1,000 dermatology professionals. It provides a professional and in-depth analysis of the impact of scalp microbiome imbalance on scalp health, offering a solid data foundation and theoretical basis for the prevention and scientific care of scalp conditions.
In the clinical research section of the Report, as the first enterprise in China to apply the cutting-edge technology metagenomic sequencing in scalp microbiome research, Proya Cosmetics systematically conducted both basic and clinical studies on the scalp microbiome of the Chinese population. The study was the first worldwide to confirm the pathogenic mechanism of two key microbial species, Malassezia restricta and Staphylococcus capitis, in relation to dandruff.
These findings provide new scientific evidence for understanding the causes of dandruff. The related research was published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology , a globally leading journal in dermatology, and has been widely recognized by the international academic community.
